Ellen, Bryan, Megan & Kyle welcome you to our website.
Finally, a long-awaited update to the old website.
Couldn't think of a better reason to update the site than to celebrate our just finished vacation in lovely Hawai’i.
We visited a couple of sites on Maui -- Wailea and Ka’anapali -- with our good friends the Keith, Corine, Chris and Amy. We were newbies at visiting Hawai’i (and, for that matter, vacationing), but luckily our friends were well-acquanted with both.
Here's a nice map of Maui, I've circled the places where we stayed.
Here's a shot of the entire vacation group
They had a nice beach right at the hotel that worked for both boogie-boarding and snorkeling.
We even saw a couple of sea turtles in the reef right in front of the hotel. They also had a slide that the kids enjoyed
(OK, we admit it, everybody had a go at them).
We took a trip up to the ’Iao Valley.
Really cool (unfortunately, literally) tropical rainforest location.
Then it was off to Ka’anapali.
We of course had to go to a luau!
Megan was in rainbow heaven with all of the rainbows around.
We took a surfing lesson in Lahaina.
Very fun. If only we looked as good in the water as we looked on land.
Notice Ellen's hair, not even wet on her first ride in.
Unfortunately, she was the first to go and none of the rest of us could match her achievement.
Keith and Corine knew the way to a way cool snorkeling spot.
We needed to go through the jungle to get there.
Luckily, we had a few Tarzans to help us out.
They also found us a great spot for boogie-boarding and body surfing.
Megan and Amy wore the rest of us out just watching them.
Keith and Bryan managed to catch a couple of waves, too.
Then it was off to Oahu (yeah, we take our vacationing pretty seriously).
We wanted to see the USS Arizona memorial and Pearl Harbor.
While we were there we stopped off at the battleship USS Missouri which proved to be very interesting as well.
Unfortunately, our vacation had to end, but we had a great time and are already looking forward to our next trip
(not that we know when or where it's going to be).
Since the last update, Bryan also went on a business trip to Europe.
Luckily he was able to stop in at both Aachen and Maas Luis to visit the Braunsdorfs and the DeJongs.
